    Smile recipe organizer

Hi ,I have about the same system as many of you. I have a 3 ring binder that I use clear plastic sleeves, I cut out the recipe & the pic & put them under the heading ( drinks, Salads, etc..) I like the clear plastic because you can pull it out cook with it out, wipe it off if neccessary & put it back. I too like A PICTURE.. I really enjoy the presentation , sometimes I've just cut out great ideas for special occasions ,ie. "Halloween" If I have spotted a great table setting , set for the an occassion I cut it out to use as a mind stimulator if the need comes up. Sometimes simple ideas are so beautiful, but I need a little help getting started. I dont know however, what is THE MASTER COOK?? or is it COOKBOOK? Is it on line or do I purchase it somewhere else. I love reading through this ,on line conversation. I learn soooo much! thanks to you all. Brenda

MasterCook is a computer program put out by Sierra Home. There are several variations on the theme (MasterCook, Cooking Light, MasterCook Suite and Best of MasterCook), and they vary mainly in the number of cookbooks and recipes contained in them. The Bet of MasterCook has over 30 "cookbooks". You can create your own cookbooks, group collections, get nutritional analysis, create shopping lists, and all that other stuff we've all talked about. You can buy the programs at most computer stores, on-line through Sierrahome.com or other e-tailers (buy.com had a good price on it recently with free shipping). There is currently a $20 rebate on The Best of Master Cook, so the net price is about $25-35.

One caution: don't be put off by the book that comes with it. You don't have to sit down and read it before you start. I had an early version of both MasterCook and Cooking Light I never used because of that and the fact that I thought I'd never type up all my recipes. Once you start using it though, it falls into place. You can also copy recipes in most other formats into it. I haven't played with that yet, but I have a diskette full of things I copied of the old BB to get me started.

Hope that wasn't a lot more than you wanted to hear.
