    LUSH in DC?

I'm going to a conference in DC in two weeks and have got to check out the LUSH store there. I can't get the website to open to find out where it is. Can anyone help?

My hotel is at 15th and Pennsylvania avenue so I should be able to get wherever it is pretty easily (I think.)

I'm a LUSH newbie so any product recommendations would be appreciated. I get the LUSH newsletter but it's so overwhelming.

As far as recs, there are a few threads on the subject.
"Is ice hockey hard? I don't know, you tell me. We need to have the strength and power of a football player, the stamina of a marathon runner and the concentration of a brain surgeon. But, we need to put all this together while moving at high speeds on a cold and slippery surface while 5 other guys use clubs to try and kill us. Oh, yeah, did I mention that this whole time we're standing on blades 1/8 of an inch thick. Is ice hockey hard? I don't know, you tell me. Next question."

Beth, it's in Georgetown in the main shopping area. The Metro doesn't have a stop in G'town, but you can go to some particular station and then take a bus. It was back in March when I did this, so I don't remember the details...but it is very possible! I'm hoping to make a visit to Lush in December when I'm in the area again.

    Have fun!!!

Do you mean Lush handbags? If so, you can do way better on prices on EBAY or iOffer.

Which bag were you interested in?

I think Beth means Lush beauty products.

Beth, I really enjoy the bath bombs and the solid shampoo but that's all I've tried (so far).

I think you should be able to walk along Pennsylvania to the Georgetown store.

I love the bubble bars...depending on how hard your water quality is, these rock..I just chip off about 1 TBSP full and the bubbles fill up my entire bath. I love the "karma" line, their henna product is great. I love the soap slices and solid shampoo. The only thing I'm not really into is the bath bomb and that's because I hate the clean up afterwards

I was at the Georgetown Lush a few weeks ago. Your hotel is not really walking distance unless you LOVE to walk. I would recommend hopping on the metro - take the blue line (toward Franconia-Springfield) or the orange line (toward Vienna). Get off at Foggy Bottom. There really is no easy way to describe walking directions into Georgetown from there, but it is easy. I usually suggest asking people - if you follow the flow of traffic, it will get you to M St. It is a good walk (10-15 minutes), or you could take a bus/cab.

It is a great area to walk around/shop/eat. On the way to Lush is a good Ethiopian restaurant called Zed's (it is between Lush and the metro, on the opposite side of the street from Lush).

If you have any DC questions, feel free to PM or email me.

Ditto *everything* you said! To make the cleanup easier on the bombs, you can tie them into an old nylon and it will catch all the cinnamon sticks/glitter/etc.

Or you can make sure you time your baths for just before your housekeeper is coming to clean.

I am not a huge fan of the bubble bars, but that's because our water here is VERY hard. Even a full bar doesn't get all that bubbly. But I love love LOVE the bath melts - they leave my skin super soft. Same with some of the moisturizing bath bombs, like butterball.

See, when I was living with my folks, I'd bathe the night the housekeeper came, so I'd have a clean tub! With four of us in the house... yuck after a few days.

I think Foggy Bottom must be the metro station we used. There's a bus that goes from the station into Georgetown - $1 one way. I could see possibly walking from the station, but for $1, you get more time for shopping! The bus stop was maybe 4 or 5(?) blocks from the Lush store.

Thanks everyone. I've been to DC a few times and a trip over to Georgetown is usually part of the plan. Now I need to convince my trip roomie that she likes to shop. It doesn't seem like her thing but who doesn't need more bath stuff .

I'm going to be meeting a lot of cyber-friends from one of my education list servs. It's going to be great to finally put faces to the voices. And I'm rooming with one of my "gurus" and I'm excited but slightly nervous.

There's a new bus, "the Circulator," that runs from the downtown area (where you are) to Georgetown. Much easier than taking the Metro to Foggy Bottom, which is still a bit of a hike on a cold day, and it costs something minimal ($1.00, I think) -- as opposed to the cabs which now have fuel surcharges on top of the zoned fares. Here's their website -- http://www.dccirculator.com/home_page/
Work is the ruin of the drinking classes.

I was just in Lush last night for a "pin the shorts on the pool boy" party to launch their new desperate housewives line and they have the YUMMIEST holiday scents right now.. lots of gingery/candycane/cinnamony/vanilla scents..fabu. Their ruby slippers bubble bar is fantastic as well. I really love that place!

Terrific. I just got an e-mail from my conference roomie and she isn't able to walk very much due to an injury. That will be great.

I'd never heard of LUSH before this BB and now it's going to be one of those very expensive discoveries, I'm afraid. But not as bad as my Penzey's addiction, I suspect.
