Admittedly I am grasping at straws here, but I figure it can't hurt and maybe it could help.
DH is most likely going to lose his job on Friday. Some of you may remember that his company filed for Chapter 11 and then emerged out of it this past summer. Well, they filed again and they won't be coming out of it this time. Although nothing is official yet, the rumor is Friday will be the day. Edited to add that this IS inevitable - it's not a question of IF but of WHEN. No new work has been coming into the plant for a few weeks now. DH is surprised he wasn't let go a lot earlier.
Ideally we'd like to stay in the area - not only because that is our choice but because we just moved into a new house in November! However, that may not be possible and we are, of course, remaining open to moving out of the area. The most important thing is finding a job.
What's the best way? He's using the online services, but my gut (and what I've heard from others) says this is not the best way. Recruiters have been calling him - is this the route to go - make as many contacts as possible? What about head hunters?
I'm trying to stay calm and approach this rationally. We have a chunk of money to fall back on, but it won't last forever. He'll file for unemployment and we'll try to get Cobra coverage. The health coverage scares me with all of his health issues.
Thanks for any tips.
Oh - and is anyone you know looking for a great metallurgist with a PhD and 8 years experience in aluminum (making wheels for cars)?????![]()

One vent before I go......I hate, hate, hate being in limbo. On the bright side, perhaps this will lead us to something wonderful.....who knows. Let's just get there as quickly as possible, okay?
I miss hanging out here more!
