We left my workroom in our new house uncarpeted because of the messiness of my business.
I would love to do something fun to the concrete like paint it a neat color or stain or something???
Any ideas?

My hairdresser painted his concrete floor when he relocated to a new building. He's got some gold and browns in there, and it's some sort of faux finish. It looks really nice.
That's exactly what I'm talking about. I'd like to know how it's done.
I'm pretty sure there are staining kits. Also, your local Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore store should be able to help to you.

You need to use paint that is specifically made for concrete, I would think. Here is a link I found on google:Originally Posted by Brooke3

I would recommend stain over paint. We turned our detached garage into an apt/rec area and had a professional stain the concrete floors then seal them. They are a tortoise shell color and fabulous. There were stains on the floors prior from barrels, etc and it turned out like a distressed old warehouse which is what I wanted. We do have an area rug over part of it now. I think the problem with paint is that it peels.

There are paints for concrete -- patio nad garage surfaces. They are opaque and not the same look as a stain.
A friend said she wanted to stain her concrete floors. She is an artist and a DIY person, but she said she would probably have to hire someone to do it and be out of the house for a while because there was a fairly stong acid used in the process. I'm curious if it can be dne more easily.
My BIL stained the floors in the basement that he finished. They ended up looking really great. He did "grout lines" so they ended up looking like tile (almost like slate.)
They moved last fall but I'll see if they have pictures. I'll also try to find out what product he used. My sister, baby nephew and I all left the house. I took the baby to the play area at the mall to kill the time. Of course I couldn't figure out how to latch the carseat (in the snow...two weeks before Christmas) so we were out a lot longer than I had planned. Not relevant to your situation but part of my memories about the concrete floor.

I would definitely go with a concrete stain. We had our garage floor painted some years ago, and the guy who painted it used the wrong paint. The paint has come up where our car tires rest, and the floor shows scratches. In our next house, we'll go with a stain and/or sealant.
