    'Tis the season.........

....for a good ole Louisiana crawfish boil!

A couple of hours ago we had a family crawfish boil at the house. Crawfish boils in the spring are one of the things that make culinary life in Louisiana so great. Our golden retriever even relishes the experience.

Yum....we had one in March when they were hard to get here in Houston and insanely expensive...but this weekend we're doing it again, and I can't wait!!!

I'm jealous that you boil crawfish on a Monday!!! It looks like you had great weather and hope you had a great time!

Those picture could have come from my house (even the products) from just about a week ago. And yes, here in Houston they are costly and sort of small, but soooo good.

We find the drive to Slidel (even with gas prices) is worth it since the mudbugs are bigger and the price was so much better but then we bought 400 pounds for a bash in March!

The KCs put one on the third Friday in May! Looking forward to it!

One of my student's parents filled our aquarium with a crayfish, snails, tadpoles, etc. I don't think I will ever look at a crayfish the same way again. Definitely not as food.

Ours likes to "dance" when we play music. He presses himself against the front of the tank and wiggles his claws (legs?)

    (Ok, thread hijack over.)

This topic just reminded me to share that I had the best gumbo I've ever had last night A friend cooked for a group of us and it was just delicious. I will have to beg for the recipe! The crawfish bake looks incredible, Gumbeaux. You folks down in Louisiana definitely know your food! All the more reason for that visit I want to take...
