    Post weeks down time reviews

    These are some of the tings we have had while we have all been unable to get here.

    Pork au Poivre with Potatoes Parmigian posted by SusanL and creamed spinach. This was an easy meal to put together and was very good.

    Smoky White Bean Soup posted by gertdog and Pesto-Swirled Bread-CL Complete. The soup was wonderful. I adapted the bread to the bread machine and baked it in a loaf pan. I used red pepper pesto from Central Market. Very pretty.

    Chipotle Chilies and Cheesy Pizza posted by valchemist. I fixed this for the DH and myself and we really loved it. I added some thinly sliced red onion.

    Ginger-Peanut Chicken-Salad Wraps6/00-These had a nice flavor but seemed very runny and a mess to eat. Maybe I did something wrong.

    Creamy Chocolate-Amaretto Cheesecake thoroughly enjoyed by all

    Lemon-Garlic Shrimp Kebabs CL5/99. I was frenzied in the kitchen when I was preparing these and didn'y let them marinate long enough, but they still turned out pretty goo. I subed scallops for the shrimp. I will try them again. Along with the kebabs we had Two Toned Roasted Potatoes-5/99-We really liked these spicy potatoes and Marinated Balsamic Bean Salad.

    Black Bean Lasagna-4/01-A big hit here at my house. Nice blend of flavors. Served with Charred Tomatill Guacamole posted by buddie-yum

    Drunken Stir-Fried Beef with Green Beans6/01-We really didn't think this was that good. I have had alot better beef stir-fries than this. Not a do over here.

    July 4th cookout-Smoked brisket, ribs and Beer Can Chicken (drunken chicken or dancing chicken to some),
    Smoky Barbecue Beans with Jalapeno from Bon Appetit- these were a hit.
    Old-Fashioned Potato Salad-CL Complete-very good and creamy. It went quickly.
    Pineapple Slaw-CL Complete-this was the "dark horse" winner. I thought it would be the last to go, but everyone loved it and went back for seconds.
    Salsa Pasta Salad Better Homes and Gardens-this was just the opposite-I thought it would go over big and hardly anyone touched it. Who knows!
    Blueberry-Lemon Cheesecake Bars posted by Linda in Mo-I lightened them up as per peeps and they just disappeared into thin air.

    Thanks for the great reviews...this is my favorite part of the BB...I feel like I have my very own critique...many times I will try a recipe I would never have attempted because one of you guys has posted a great review and some "personal" tips...thanks again!

    Would you mind terribly posting this recipe? I've only been collecting CL since 11/99.

    TIA and thank you for all the other reviews. So many recipes I would never think about trying if it weren't for people like you!

    Terry, would you mind posting the "Drunkin Chicken" - sounds interesting!! I didn't realize how much I would miss this BB; so glad it's back.

    Two-Toned Roasted Potatoes**

    Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time :0:00

    Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    1 teaspoon chili powder
    3/4 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
    1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
    1 clove garlic, minced or 1/2 tsp. bottled minced
    garlic
    3 small sweet potatoes, ( about 1-1/2 lbs) -- each cut in 8 wedges
    3 small baking potatoes, (about 1-1/2 lbs) -- each cut in 8 wedges

    Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Combine the first 7 ingred. in a large zip-top bag. Add potatoes; seal and shake to coat. Place potatoes on a baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 35 min. or until tender. Sering size: 6 wedges.

    206 cal, 2.9g fat, 3.3g pro, 42.5g carb, 4.3g fiber, 0mg chol, 241mg sod.

    Drunken Stir-Fried Beef with Green Beans*

    Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

    Drunken Paste:
    1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
    7 cloves garlic, minced
    1 1/4 teaspoons minced bird chile or 2 1/2 teaspoons
    minced serrano chile
    2 teaspoons coarsley chopped galangal or peeled fresh
    ginger
    1 tablespoon chopped peeled fresh lemongrass
    2 kaffir lime leaves, thinly sliced, or 1
    teaspoon grated lime rind
    Stir-Fry:
    cooking spray
    1 (1 pound) flank steak, trimmed and cut into 1/4-inch
    strips
    2 cups (1-inch) diagonally cut green beans
    1 cup quartered cherry tomatoes
    1 tablespoon sugar
    3 tablespoons Thai fish sauce
    1 teaspoon cider vinegar
    1 cup Thai basil leaves

    To prepare the paste, combine the salt and minced garlic in a mortar and pestle, and pound to form a paste. Add chile, galangal, lemongrass, and lime leaves, one at a time, until each ingredient is incorporated into paste.

    To prepare stir-fry, heat a wok or large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat. Add paste, and stir-fry for 30 seconds (fumes my cause eyes and throat to burn slightly). Add beef; stir-fry for 3 minutes. Add beans; stir-fry 1 minute. Add tomatoes, sugar, fish sauce, and vinegar; stir-fry 1 minute or until beef reaches desired degree of doneness. Stir in basil.

    Yield: 5 servings (serving size: 3/4 cup). 202 cal, 9.2g fat, 20.2g pro, 10g carb, 45mg chol, 1100mg sod.

    I made the green bean/beef stirfry this week and I agree with TerryTX; not a do-over at all. Lots of work for a so-so result. I was trying to get rid of some lemongrass, and did manage to use up some beans and tomatoes from my garden.
