What ever happened to navy blue?

I really need new, CUTE, navy blue pumps to wear to the office with dresses/suits. I have been all over the internet looking for something I like and I am just at a loss.

I googled "navy blue pumps" and got some styles to choose from but it just seems like most everything is available in black and some version of brown but nothing, especially not the cute Steve Madden/Marc Jacobs/etc pumps are made in navy.

The only thing I can find are the plain pumps I think of as "Minnie Mouse" pumps based on the ones she wears.

I don't like those super long pointy toes, I don't want slingbacks, and I would prefer a closed toe for the Boston winters.

But I think my main frustration is the sheer lack of choice in navy blue. If you are wearing a navy blue (printed or plain fabric) dress, what color pumps do you wear? Sometimes you just can't wear another color from the fabric - like white after Labor Day.

Why is there such a dearth of choice in navy blue?

Zappo's has quite a few. I can't figure out how to sort by color once you are already at zappos.com, but if you google "blue pumps" and then choose the zappos link that comes up, it shows you only blue ones.

I would also consider a nude color pump depending on the dress.

Navy blue shoes are more available in the spring, since navy is a "spring" color. Still, I have recently seen a few in JC Penney catalogs; you can shop online.

Really - a spring color? That's ok. If I know there may be more on the horizon I can suffer through wearing my dresses with flats for now. I have some cute flats - there are way more flats to choose from than pumps.

Navy isn't really a shoe color that is that common especially if you are limiting the styles.

Generally people wear black patent, brown, beige or another color with blue - black shoes also go with blue or a fun contrasting color -- red patent is trendy this Fall.

I don't think it's necessary to match shoes, purse and dress.

Gracie, I found these on Shopzilla.com - although they may not be Navy enough for you. That is always the problem I found, the navy doesn't quite match and is just enough off to really be an issue for me.

I think it IS best to wear navy shoes if you are wearing clothes where the predominant color is navy, just as I like to wear brown shoes with clothes that are mostly brown. I think it's best when shoes COORDINATE with the clothes, not necessarily match. I will wear black if all else fails; for example, today I'm wearing a skirt that's brown and green print and a solid green top, and I have on black flats. I'd PREFER brown, but right now I only have brown heels and I have to work at my second job tonight where I'm on my feet for 4 hours. So, the need for flats outweighs the need for brown! But, I'd never wear black or brown shoes with a solid navy suit. If I didn't have the navy, in the summer I might wear white shoes, other times of the year I'd try to get away with something like bone/winter white or taupe.

I LOVE these!!! I think they would look great with a dress or pantsuit - whichever way you wanted to go! I may have to whip out the old credit card and get myself a pair!!!!!!

Each to their own -- If I were wearing a navy suit (unlikely

) I personally wouldn't opt for navy shoes but I'm not a bank teller so I like to mix up things somewhat and use shoes as a contrasting fun accessory -- I would opt for red or tiger print probably.

I also did the shopzilla search and I missed those Hush Puppies raka1214 posted. Those are ok.

I love the Steve Madden peep toe ones that Babs posted. The funny thing is, I had seen those shoes in my Shopzilla search results but I could never get it to come up with the navy style. The words in the shoe description included navy but when I clicked on them, the only colors that came up in the drop-down box did not include navy.

Isn't that weird? I don't know if I can handle that high a heel but I do like those!

Let me give you an example of why I want navy shoes - I have a lovely dress that's navy blue with tiny white polka dots and a white embroidered pattern along the waist. That's it - just white and navy blue. So for Fall, Winter and Spring I cannot wear white shoes with it because something in me just won't let me wear white when it's not summer. So there's no other choice but navy. Black shoes with that dress would look like I pulled the wrong pair out of a dark closet

and I can't think of any other color that would go.

If anyone has any other navy shoe suggestions please keep them coming!

Good luck with your search. I looked forever to attractive Navy shoes. When I finally found them, they were full price ($120) and worth every penny. In the meantime, my well meaning relatives would buy me Navy shoes for my christmas presents because they knew I wanted some. Just weren't that attractive looking.

Now, of course, I can't remember what store it was at?? (Nordstroms?)
