    Cool HLSG: Week of 3/5/01

How many of you are getting snowed in???? No snow here in Indiana, thank goodness!

Well, last week was just fine for exercise - made it my designated 5 days - but eating is slipping again. I've given up sweets for Lent, but I think I'm compensating with other junk! Mostly I've been snacking on muffins - they are fairly healthy, but...

So, this week I'm going back to journaling and calorie counting. Since exercise seems to be on track, this week's focus will be staying within fat and calorie guidelines and drinking all my water. BevP - I just can't get back on track !!!

Hope you all had a terrific weekend! I'm trying to figure out when I can get out to get my rollerblades - the closest place that carries the RB brand is 20 minutes away, the next closest, 40. One of these days....

And Natasha - if you sneak any peaks , you will be missed! See you after Easter!

    Take care,
    lindrusso

Last week, I made cookies. I was testing a recipe of my Grandmother's. I gave lots of the cookies away but DH and I still ate too many. I did make it to aerobics 4 times and I added a riser to my step!!!!! So I think I can call it a moderate success last week. I feel better. And saw a little definition in my arms one class. And my jeans felt a bit better.

Today I'll work out at home since I'm not chancing the roads. (See the Are you snowed in thread in Great food). But will go the rest of the week. I guess I'll put off Yoga another week since I want aerobics class at least 3x wk and refuse to do aerobics class and yoga class the same day.

Drink a glass of water everyone!

    Hello,

Well, last week was a bad week for me. I went to an orthopedic surgen about the pain in my hip. He thinks it is a torn muscle and I am going to get an MRI sometime in the next month. It makes sense, but it wasn't at all what I was expecting. Anyways, the bad news is that I quit soccer , and I didn't make it to the 15K I was planning to run this past weekend. The good news is the doctor said I can do anything that doesn't hurt so I am off that stupid bike and on to the ellipical machine. However, I am having problems getting motivated. I am used to running outside and only forcing myself to the gym twice a week. So far, I have only made myself go 3 times a week, and I feel I need to go one or two more times. Eating is better, but not as good as I had been doing. I am trying not to worry about it too much. I have been drinking plenty of water, BevP!

Good exerise week last week. Eating was so-so. Made up my mind starting March 1 I was going to eat better. Got out and hiked a Metro park but then did the pizza and beer thing Saturday night. Sunday was good and plenty of exerise. We are finishing the half story upstairs. Had 8 pieces of 4X8 plywood and 30 2X4X7's to haul up there so did the "stair" work out! Will be up there cleaning up and moving stored items down to the basement so I will have a good workout in the evenings all week. Drink your water and have a good week everyone!

Last week was pretty good for me! For Lent, I decided instead of giving something up, I'd adopt a new good behavior. In the past, I've given up sweets or chocolate, and I've over-compensated with other food, so it hasn't really done me any good. So this Lent, I'm following the Weight Watchers point system (though I'm not officially a member -- got the point stuff from a friend). I started last Monday and have done really well. I've also been exercising 5-6 days per week, mostly Tae Bo and weights in the morning before work.

So with all those healthy habits, last week I lost FOUR pounds! That was actually more than I was going for -- two was my goal, but I'm very happy with it! I didn't starve myself, by any means, but I resisted the temptation to dip into the candy jar on my co-worker's desk, and I haven't had ANY girl scout cookies! We had our Cooking Light Supper Club Wednesday night, and I only had small pieces of both the desserts and ate reasonable portions of everything else. I feel so good about myself! My husband even said he could tell that I'm losing weight and getting more toned. He told me that makes me even more sexy! What a compliment!

So all those good feelings of losing weight and feeling healthy are motivating me to keep it up! I'm ready to have a great week!

Hello! I finally can join in. I worked out last week for the first time since, gulp, May. I only made it twice but I'm still patting myself on the back because that's twice more than I've made it for the past 9 months . Plus I went in today! The big thing has been reserving the elliptical trainer (which is my favorite cardio workout) because it's very popular.

Today I weighed myself and I'm only 5 lbs off from where I was in May. But I can tell that I have a lot more toning to do. So my plan this week is to do the elliptical trainer for 18 minutes with 10 minutes of stretching after, 4 days this week. I know that's not a lot but I don't want to get overwhelmed and quit again. Then next week I want to add strengthening to that.

It's a great incentive to have you guys here! Reading about your workouts and reporting in helps keep me motivated! Thanks!

    Thumbs up

Congratulations LGBurns!!! I agree completely that you should pat yourself on the back. You seem to be thinking long term goals. Good for you. Welcome back.

I didn't post last week, because the week before that was so bad. But last week was good. Eating was pretty good. Most days, I managed to get three regular meals, which really helped me avoid the snacking. Like Lindrusso, I also went back to journaling, which has always helped in the past and seems to be helping again. Also, seeing the weight start to come off (albeit slowly) really helps keep me motivated. I made it to the gym three times, and also did 2 walk/runs over the weekend. I have decided to try to be ready to run the Race for the Cure in May (I've never been a runner), so hopefully working toward that goal will keep me going. And yes, I am drinking my water (10-12 glasses a day) -- now if I could just stay out of the bathroom!

Last week was all right. No progress on the weight lifting , but a killer snowshoe on Saturday, with about 2 miles of back country in addition to our regular 4 mile route. Best part was, I was absolutely whipped afterwards, but felt no soreness on Sunday. Must be getting used to the hard work, I guess!

My books finally arrived from Amazon today, so I WILL integrate a weekly super slow weight lifting routine into my regimen, probably beginning tomorrow night.

Diet-wise, I'm still doing the five a day fruit and veggie thing, and still getting at least 8 (usually minimum 10) glasses of water a day. My goal for this week is to re-start journaling fruit and veggie intake, so I'm absolutely certain that I'm getting at least my minimum.
