    Help with Emeril Cookware

I've been searching for a dutch oven for my daughter. Many are just sold in sets. After running around all over town I finally found an Emeril Lacause(?) However it didn't have a "how to use" instruction with it. I am assuming that it can go into the oven at 350. Does anyone have one and how do you like it. It seems nice and heavy and has a good feel. Thanks....

Dutch ovens (also called French ovens) are workhorses, whether they're made of stainless or cast iron. I don't know what your Emeril one is made of, but the cookware line is made by All-Clad, so that's a good sign! You can absolutely put it in the oven at 350. It may go up to 450; that depends on the handle's material so you need to check online (Google Emeril, I suppose). Enjoy it!

As you cook, you enjoy omniscience about food that no amount of label reading can match. Having retaken control of the meal from the food scientists, you know exactly what is in it. (Unless you start w/cream of mushroom soup, in which case all bets are off.) To reclaim control over one's food, to take it back from industry & science, is no small thing; indeed, in our time, cooking from scratch qualifies as subversive. ~~ Michael Pollan

AS TK posted, the oven capabilities are determined by the handles and to some extent by the lid -- Tempered glass is less oven safe than stainless steel lids.

Most handles made for today's cookware are oven safe AT LEAST up to 350. Some older stuff had either wood or plastic handles.

I went for stainless steel handles deliberately on all my cookware (and stainless lids) because I wanted full oven capability.

Emeril Cookware is quite good by the way -- it is the "cheaper" brand of All Clad as it is not fully clad.
