Ok Ham, here is why I asked. While trying to help a poster that wanted to use up cans of pears, I found this recipe, "Wedding Bell Pear Salad". It is on a page from something I cut out, yellow with age and no clue as to the date. It says it is from the N.C book. It also has a little brief bio of the founders of the series. I was wondering if you know any of this or even care to know.

Cookieee, you've lost me. Are you asking if I know the bio of the founders? Does it refer to Gwen and Barbara?

Yes, there's 4 or 5 paragraphs about how they met, traveling around in a van selling their books etc. I guess you know their story. On first name bases with them eh?
I just did a search. The book that the recipe for the pear salad was in was pub. in 1985 so this piece of paper isn't as old as I thought it was.

LOL, yeah first name basis. They are very proud of their books and I think they do a good job of representing each state's unique food culture.

I thought Deechef would be interested in the fact that they met on a golf course. They said that when they load up the traveling van you should see what goes into it. Golf Clubs, Cooler, and Clothing.
Ham, I would like to take this time to thank you so much for a great job of hosting this week, as usual.
I also would like to announce for those that don't know this, Deechef has volunteered to be our guest host for next weeks game. Let's have a good turnout for her. Thank you Deechef.
And thank you to all you wonderful people for playing this week and all the nice things you all said about the game and for voting to keep it going.
Mary Ann, hope you had fun and will stick around for a while

Ok, I made my recipe last night, just didn't have the energy to post! Here it is!
I went to the "Everyday Pasta" book, by Giada DeLaurentiis, to find a quick and tasty pasta, and I really found a great one! It was just cheesy enough, and very tasty, though I will add garlic salt the next time. I should have fixed it with a salad, but I had lost all my energy by dinnertime (7 pm), due to a cold. Didn't keep me from devouring my portion, though! (We used regular mozzarella, because we don't care for the smoked)
Cheesy Baked Tortellini
Recipe courtesy Giada De Laurentiis
Prep Time:
10 min
Cook Time:
35 min
Serves:
4 to 6 servings
Ingredients
* Olive oil
* 2 cups marinara sauce
* 1/3 cup mascarpone cheese
* 1/4 cup chopped fresh Italian parsley leaves
* 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
* 1 pound purchased cheese tortellini
* 2 ounces thinly sliced smoked mozzarella
* 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly oil an 8 by 8 by 2-inch baking dish.
Whisk the sauce, mascarpone cheese, parsley and thyme in a large bowl to blend. Cook the tortellini in a large pot of boiling salted water until just tender, about 2 minutes. Drain. Add the tortellini to the sauce and toss to coat. Transfer the tortellini mixture to the prepared baking dish. Top the mixture with the smoked mozzarella and Parmesan. Cover and bake until the sauce bubbles and the cheeses on top melt, about 30 minutes.

Thank you! BTW, we're "neighbors"! Peachtree City is only an hour or so from Lake Martin! Do you ever get to the lake?

Hi Kay, best wishes here also for a speedy recovery. Just as I read your post, DH was telling me he wants to smoke some cheese. Explanation in this weeks game.

No, we haven't been to the lake, but it's been on our to-do list forever. I bet it looks nicer now than it did a year or so ago! I've always wondered if the Kohl's you go to is the one in Newnan.

We have one in Opelika, but the Newnan one is bigger, and I do go there when I have the time! One of the Kohl's in Birmingham used to be a KMart, so it's huge! The one in Opelika is so small, it only has one set of front doors...
The lake was fuller longer this year than any in the past 10 years that we've lived here! And it sure looks better than the drought year!
