ISO seafood cookbook recommendation

I have started cooking seafood for the first time in my life and am frequently at a loss. Anyone have a good book to recommend?

Since you are just now starting to cook seafood, I think this would be a good book to start with. Don't worry about the title, I have the book and I don't worry about it.

Mark Bittman's first book was on fish. Don't know anything about it, and don't know if includes shellfish, etc. But there ya go.

How do you feel about James Peterson? His Fish & Shellfish, the Cook's Indispensable Companion is pretty thorough and explanatory.

Who, me? What do I know? I specialize in the pronunciation of Italian foods. Why, I barely even speak English

I have to say this isn't a personal recommendation, but I would think it would be worth putting Tom Douglas' books in the consideration set, no?

Who is Tom Douglas?

I'll have to watch out for the James Petersen as his are frequently available used.

Laura, Tom Douglas is the grand poobah of Pacific Northwest cuisine, chef/owner of several highly acclaimed restaurants and author of several cookbooks. The guy knows how to cook a piece of fresh fish!

I have at least one Tom Douglas book and I see his semi-frequently up here in our used book store. Remind me next week and you can look at it. It is a beautiful book and has more than seafood (or at least the one I have does).

Well keep your eye out I guess for something geared toward a lot of seafood if you see something used. I have been looking but have been a bit overwhelmed by the choices. I'll also take a peek next Monday if you remember to bring it by Mom's.
