Pureed Food Diet/Recipes needed for post-surgery

Help, I haven't been successful finding recipes for my post hiatal hernia surgery and I am tired right now. I have two more weeks of a liquid diet. I can eat pureed foods without seeds, nuts, etc. No bumps, clumps, or bits, nothing remotely spicey~. Using Boost Plus, and an occasional milk shake; no-fat ice-cream each night, low sodium chicken broth, cranberry juices, coffee, and tea. I want to try to puree things, what have you done that is successful for an adult/child? TIA, I am desperate, tired, and still sore.

I was on a soft diet for 6 weeks a few years ago. I remember eating a ton of pureed soups, mashed potatoes, applesauce, creamed corn. I had a friend who used babyfood recipes to find something interesting. Maybe that would be a helpful source.

Susan, do you have a food mill? I don't think anything is better for getting rid "bumps, clumps and bits". I run pureed soup through mine even after having put it in the blender.

Thanks everyone! I will try mashed potatoes with chicken broth, it has to be really soft and liquidy to go down! Tried apple sauce last night and it didn't do well

Wish I had a food mill, one of those things I never thought I would need. But I will try my food proc., I got rid of the blender years ago, go figure.

My next step is to try cooking meats, that is where I am lacking the proteins and taste. The Boost gives me protein but I am ... getting tired of sweet things... so I may roast a turkey breast half today for DH, remove some for me, and then add broth to cook it to death. Grab the food proc. and give it a whirl.

Just may try some of the baby foods, I never thought of that.
Thanks everyone, I was cranky last night because I was so sore from driving a trip I wasn't supposed to do (too far) but needed to do for family. Still sore today but thinking a bit more clearly. At least I now have a plan, thanks!

My dad is having radiation on his jaw and neck right now and the nutritionist told him there is a protein drink supplement. If you just want the protein and and are not concerned with how you get it, I can find out the name of it and post back. I'm sure there are all kinds of protein supplements out there in health food stores, and am not sure why she mentioned one particular one.

Instead of meat I'd try making some super runny style refried beans for some different protein. If the mashed potatoes work maybe adding some greek style yogurt for more protein?

After my lapband surgery I lived on pureed bean soups! I pulled out the smoothie blender and went to town on black bean soup, navy bean soup, even a very mild chili! Plenty of protein and fiber and very filling. I also pureed homemade potato soup, which was heavenly! Sometimes I still will puree a soup in the wintertime because it just sounds good to spoon something warm out of a mug while in front of the fireplace!

Many thanks for the suggestions. I need to call the dr. today, I had great difficulty with pureed turkey, mashed potatoes, grilled zucchini without seeds or skin, and chicken broth. It was difficult to eat even though it was thinned out, maybe I should have made it thinner- but it tasted SO good.

I AM going out to get a food mill and blender this morning, I have NO appetite after last night, it still hurts. I noticed that hot and cold liquids are tough as well. Vanilla yogurt is my very best thing to eat! Still going 2 Boosts a day.

I did drive two times this week much farther and longer than I should have, DH's aunt almost died and we had to be there! She is doing very well now but I will call the dr. this morning and see what they say.

Bean soups and hummus sound like heaven right now! Thanks again, I thought that this would be a breeze, go figure.
