Very simple fabulous summer Indian curry to share
Now to be fair it does not have to be made in the summer BUT I am not vouching for it without fresh picked heirloom tomatoes, which just made a stunning difference to the final dish. SO SO SO good. I made this Punjabi Home Style Paneer Curry w/ Peas as part of taste and create (was paired with Bombay Foodie), so I am going to link to the recipe rather than print it here. Here are my pics, here is the recipe. I used one gigantic (11 oz) heirloom tomato plus 2 tiny zebra green tomatoes. I pureed and did not peel the tomatoes. I added frozen peas, which are not called for in the original recipe.
I was so blown away by this I want to make more curries and freeze them with fresh tomatoes this summer.

Yay!! Another curry paneer to try! Oh my...that looks DELICIOUS! Still have the other half of the paneer packet from my last paneer recipe.
After having this ONE: http://showmethecurry.com/curries/mu...an-recipe.html
and the whole family loved it, I'm game to try more!
Do try the above tomato-less curry paneer at least once! The video is helpful and won't leave you questioning anything.

I usually make enough for 2 nights and I was so sad when I realized that I did not have enough tomatoes to double. It was that good. And I don't even much care for paneer honestly.

This looks awesome, and I am looking for ways to enjoy my garden tomatoes.
I've had paneer dishes at restaurants, but have not cooked with it.
Do you make the paneer itself, or purchase it? If so, is there a good recipe, or where would you purchase it? I don't recall ever seeing it in a store, but maybe I haven't looked in the right place.
Thanks,
Dawna

I get mine at an Indian market 20 minutes away (Bharat Bazaar). "SWAD" brand -- a 14 oz package in the diary case. $4.99 for the pkg.

Laura I made the Panner Curry yesterday and it was amazingly good! Man I was not wrong, your picture made me droll, it looked delicious in your blog and it was indeed great!
I made yesterday night so I could bring for lunch to work today, my 7-year old tried a bit and loved it too, he took the rest to school for lunch!
We had it with rice and I added the peas just as you did, they were super delicious in contrast to the savory tomato sauce (I love green peas!).
I made about half-recipe with two yellow tomatoes from the farmer's market that I had at home, then I and added a bit of tomato paste just to give a hint of red to my curry.
This was really yummy, we all loved here and just as you I was sad there was none left for another meal.
I was so delicious and so easy to make that I know I will be making this again for sure in a very near future!
Thanks for sharing!

I finally found some paneer and would like to make this. Do I need to use ghee or can I just use oil or regular butter? Fortunately, there are still some good tomatoes around.

I would use all oil, oil and ghee, or all ghee. Do not bother with butter as the flavor is wrong and it is not healthy (neither is ghee but it has the right flavor). Let me know how it comes out!

This is good to know!
Now, can I freeze paneer? Before and/or after opening?
