Enchante Broke Her Leg :(
I got a phone call this afternoon from my groomer. Enchante got scared when the groomer next to her turned on the dryer. And she jumped out of the bath (over the side and onto the floor). Turns out she broke her leg.
The groomer had the noose loose because the other times Enchante has been bathed there she has been totally calm and just stood there.
The vet took x-rays and said it was a classic break from a dog jumping from too high. He said that sometimes these breaks will heal on their own and that since she is so young (5 months) that we could try that first. And if she doesn't show signs she is healing then she would need surgery. An orthopedic surgeon would put in bone plates. He said that waiting a few weeks to see if it healed on its own would not be detrimental if she did need surgery.
So he reset the break so that it was all aligned properly and put her in a splint and bandage. We go back on Tuesday for them to do a bandage check. And then the next week (for something). then the week after for x-rays to see how / if it is healing.
The gave me novox for her pain. and said i could give her ace to sedate her if needed . . . since Anisette is also at home recovering from luxating patella surgery and they both need to be calm.
They are now in side by side recovery ex-pens.
Here is a picture of Enchante. [I took the picture with my phone so between that and the flash it is rather blurry]. They put a bandage on her cast and wrote "Get Well Soon". This is definitely when it pays off to have a great relationship with your vet and their staff. They could have sent me to the regional hospital (to fight labor day weekend traffic) since it was 4pm, but they told me to come right in . . . knowing that they were busy and that they would have to stay late. She said she could hear in my voice the stress.
[Enchante is on the left. She broke her front left leg. Anisette is on the right. She had surgery on her back right leg. She is 12 days into recovery.]
Gigi is starting to get worried and thinks maybe she should run away from home before she ends up in a splint.

Awwww, she looks well pampered and I'm sure if you keep her quiet the leg should heal. Good luck.

Sorry this happened. I'm sure you'll nurse them all back to perfect health!

Awww....poor thing! Good thing your vet got you in.
This is totally random, but DH once put a cast on our pug's leg in our backyard.

My sister said "What will the neighbors think? Seeing you with two dogs in splints?" It did sound funny.
My friend says "we have to come do an exorcism on your house . . . it is cursed."

Poor thing!
Our German Shepherd broke her leg when she was just a few months old - she was inside her crate and got her leg caught. She had a spiral fracture and we did have to go to an orthopedist vet ($$$$$) to have it taken care of.
The worst part was that we were NOT supposed to let her run or jump for 2 months....yeah right!
She ended up healing just fine!
BTW, does your groomer cover the costs of the vet appt or do you have pay for it?

So far the groomer is covering the costs and is being really good about it. Came right over to give me the money that I spent at the vet. Offered to help out in any way . . . if I needed to have somebody watch the dogs or whatever.
Now if she does end up needing surgery, it will be at an orthopedic vet and cost quite a bit. So we will see what she says at that point.

Poor little things! But your vet seems great, thankfully. I'd hate to read a vent post about this, after everything you're going through now.

Oooohhhh, poor thing. That's funny about what your neighbors will think. Hang in there. Here's to a quick recovery for all.
