Anyone have the Betty Crocker Picture Cookbook?

I have it but my copy of the book doesn't have everything for the sub-gum recipe. I can read the ingredients but not what it says in the beginning of the recipe. It says something about leftovers and then I think 1 tablespoon of oil. Does anyone have the book with the recipe in it? Could you post what it says in the beginning of the recipe and check to make sure I have the oil part right. Thank you.

I looked in my 5 ring binder cookbook and couldn't find anything titled "sub-gum. Would it be under a certain ingredient or food title? My BC was printed in 1969 and my first cookbook when I married.

My version of this book is from the fifties, falling apart, but it had your recipe in it--

SUB-GUM

Delicious... from leftovers.

Brown in 1 Tbsp. fat in hot skillet...

1/2 C sliced mushrooms
2 C cubed leftover roast pork or veal

Add, cover and simmer 30 minutes...

2 C diced celery
1 1/2 C well-seasoned leftover gravy
1 tsp salt
dash of pepper

Add and heat...

2 1/2 C bean sprouts (#2 can), drained.

--Sounds like a good quick meal.

Thank you so much, it always bothered me that I couldn't read it because of the printing issue with that recipe. I really appreciate it!!
