Another computer question..

For the last few months, I'm not sure when it started, I'm getting a small white box with a red 'x" in it in assorted places. one example is the smilies to the right of this post. I get all the faces except for the "mad" one. there I get a red 'x" in a small box.
I get emails that have these in place of what I assume are pictures. Did I miss some kind of update? clicking on the 'x" does not open anything or change it. It's annoying. What should I do to fix this? TIA.

This has been mentioned in numerous threads including this post by the moderator which lets you know that they are aware of the problem and are supposedly working on it.

There were server/software updates several months ago and that's when the "mad" smiley became disabled.

If CL was the only place that'd be fine... but I get this in numerous places totally unrelated to CL.

Incoming advertising emails from unrelated companies etc.

Did you try right clicking on the "X" in your emails?

I've clicked both left and right and nothing happens. It's annoying! of course, now that I've mentioned it there aren't any showing up.

Try this and see if that does anything.

What about in Mozilla? A lot of times, pictures don't forward on my Thunderbird email...

thanks for the link. I'll work those steps. sometimes DH doesn't install "updates" as he should, regardless of what I say.
I have a fairly new computer with loads of memory, so I could probably do Mozilla now. I tried it before but my old computer slowed down too much to keep it operating. Thanks.
