What's up with the spam?

What is up with all the weird posts (my favorite game of all time? On a cooking board?)?

It seems like in the last day or two, there are many new posters with wacky topics like how to cook noodles! (Gee thanks, I hadn't figured that one out yet).

Is there any way to control these posts? (not that everyone's sarcastic replies haven't given me a chuckle . . .)

I think the forum limits a new person for a brief period and they have to have a certain number of posts before they can insert links and pictures and such. Maybe that has something to do with it.

This change came about after the forum was attacked with pornographic images if I remember correctly.

Although...I have to admit, I thought it was an interesting question about what is your favorite game. I was debating between Monopoly and Blokus...

And I think it's funny that people consider the spam we have had here as "a lot." Truly, what we see here is NOTHING compared to what some boards see.

Seems like alot of them have usernames that start with a-- aarenbarbara, abrahamabel or something, etc. they look like not-too-direct marketing ploys, to me. the noodles, the one about the Spectrum diet, etc.
