Book/author search

I'm hoping one of you can help.

There was a prolific male author in the 70's/80's who wrote suspense novels. I think his first or last name was Lawrence. One of the books had human heads that were suspended and the brains were being used for some purpose (probably evil). They were able to stimulate them to orgasm. Anybody know who the author was and/or what the book title is? It might be Robin Cook as well (but I don't think so).

There is a commercial that runs here that uses the phrase 'stimulate me' and I keep thinking about this book and it is driving me crazy!

I think I know the author you mean but I'm not sure if his name is Lawerence Alexander or not. There is just a tickle in the back of my brain...

That doesn't sound like a Block type plot at all; though he's pretty prolific, most of his books are series characters and that wouldn't fit any of them.

Bob,

I didn't think Lawrence Block fit but that was the only other "Lawrence" author I could think of other than Lawrence Sanders. My only other guess..... clearly his name isn't Lawrence though, is Jeffery Deaver.

Looks like Tbb might have figured it out.
