Landmark Court Case

I heard on the radio this AM that an employee of Home Depot is being taken to court for wearing a button at work that said "In God we Trust".

This is considered a landmark case because it is the first time anyone has ever spotted an actual employee in Home Depot!

Lordy, ain't that the truth!!

IMHO, the same can be said for Target, Lowe's, Orchard Supply Hardware and a host of others!

Believe it or not--last Saturday was a very slow day at the local Home Depot---ds and I were greeted and offered help by 3 employees before we got to the first aisle ds wanted to look thru!

Of course, we knew if we had actually wanted help, they would have all magically disappeared!

Thats what I thought when I read this first thing this morning knowing I had to go to HD at lunch dreading it. Jeannette, that just happened to me. I was shocked, HD had a greeter at the door offering help. They didn't have castor I was looking for, so it was off to Lowes and a hardware guy walked up to me and and asked if I needed help, no such luck. then on to Orchard Supply, where I always get the best service and wasn't surprised about asking me if I needed something.

I thought what of the odds of this happening again!

When in HD I see lots of employees wearing their orange aprons.
My problem is, I've never found one that worked in the department where I needed help. Of course, they always promised to call someone, then again no one ever arrived in the department.
I always say HD is great if you know what you want and can walk in, grab it, and can self scan it at checkout.

I always know what I want, I just can't ever figure out where it is. Earlier I was looking at an item at Lowes.com and told my coworker how wonderful it'd be if it told what aisle in "my store" it was on.

I guess I could say HD/Lowes is great for exercise, because you'll walk around and around and around before you find shop vac filters.

I agree with y'all about HD and Loew's both-- you get tons of exercise trying to find what you want. And if you were lucky enough to find an employee, they were helping someone else or had no clue how to help you.

But yesterday when I went to have a few keys made.. wow-- I also had about 3 different orange aprons greet me and ask how to help me.. what's up with that? I was shocked... maybe because business is slow.

3 years ago when we wanted to buy a new fridge.. THREE visits to the store got us absolutely no help-- employees busy with others, not around even when paged, etc. So we purchased at an appliance store!

I've always had great service there.
I even had a lawnmower guy from there come to my house and fix a fairly new lawn mower. He ended up replacing a spark plug in it and just apologized for the inconvenience. He never asked to see a receipt--and I actually didn't buy it at the Home Depot where he worked; I just called that store because it was closer to my home than the one I purchased it.

Ditto. Almost to the extent of too much service. Every 5 minutes, may I help you? Can I help you find something? Maybe it's just the one we go to but if you need help, it's only a step away.

I have always had pretty good service at both HD and Loews. I just cannot stand the self service check out scanners at HD. Inevitably, it dosn't know items are bagged and won't continue to scan. Grrr...if I wanted to work for HD, I would apply.
