Computer question....wmv

What program opens .wmv files? when the file doesn't open windows does a search, numerous things come up. nothing I've ever heard of. I want something safe and am reluctant to download something from a site I know nothing about. Suggestions? TIA.

It should be Windows Media Viewer, iirc.

I think Gilgamesh is right. Although if I recall, I think my voicemails are .wmv files, and for me it opens real player or quicktime.

So, I think if you chose any one of the programs she or I mentioned you'd be able to view/listen to it. You can also choose which program opens which files from your internet tools (At least, you can on Firefox.)

I thought I had windows media player but it somehow is not working or evaporated. I downloaded it and all is working OK now. I googled for it and downloaded it from a windows site rather than the sites that popped up when I just had the program do the search. sometimes I feel like a computer moron.... thanks for your help.
