Packages for soldiers

I got a catalog from Hickory Farms today and they will ship packages to an APO address free of charge. That made me remember that I would like to send to a service man, but I don't know any. Thankfully, my grandson came home safely last year.
Does anyone know where I can get an address?

Try contacting one of your local Family Readiness Groups - your local military unit(s) (national guard or air guard) can probably put you in touch with them.

There are other organizations that you can also donate something through, but I'm completely blanking what they are right now.

Hope this helps.

Operation Home Front - an organization that assists the families of deployed service members - will be sure to know. Or if you're interested, they can hook you up with a project for stateside families.

It's www.operationhomefront.net. The Nevada chapter info is:

Operation Homefront Nevada
8550 W. Charleston BLVD.
Suite #102-127
Las Vegas, NV. 89117
(702)364 2653

Thank you,Valarie, and Stefania4, for the local address. I had googled Any Soldier.com and gotten some information, but it would be nice to send to a local soldier. I might even find someone I know and that would be better.
A Hickory Farms package would be nice, but Any Soldier.com listed so many things that would make a soldier's life easier.

My church has "adopted" a local National Guard unit currently deployed in Afghanistan, and we're packing boxes soon.

For anyone considering sending a package, here's a list of needed items as reported by the unit:
Toiletries - toothpaste, deodorant, soap
Feminine hygiene items - VERY difficult to get over there
Snacks - jerky, Pringles, nuts, cookies
Magazines
DVDs

My brother-in-law, deployed last year, added the following:
Chapstick
Highlighters and post-it notes (he had a terrible time trying to get the office supplies he needed)
Dunkin' Donuts coffee
Mints and mint gum

Also, when he was deployed I sent him blank Valentines for my sister (his wife) and the kids. He was able to write messages and send them to his family from Iraq. We had also sent a bunch of other Valentines that he could give his buddies to send to their sweethearts and kids - he said that went over very well.

Thanks for looking out for our troops!
