Anyone want to join me at a Hershey's Anonymous meeting?

It may be time for me to starting attending HA. I am powerless over the Halloween candy.

Anyone else need to pull up a chair and introduce themselves?

I'll start.

Hi, I'm Leah and I'm addicted to the mini Hershey's milk chocolate bars. (said while eating one)

Ooh, those are good too! Maybe we need an all inclusive Candy Anonymous meeting...

It just needs a clever name and sugar overload has my brain moving a little slow.

Or Sweets Anonymous. I can leave candy around for months and not touch it. Cookies/cakes are another story

We give out temporary tattoos for Halloween...very low in calories

(((((((((cangoss))))))))) I'm so very sorry Thinking of you.

*******

Hi, my name is Melissa. I took my 7 month old son out trick or treating. 7 month olds most definitely do not eat candy, so guess who is eating it?

Yes, I have a problem. And I am powerless!

It's OK, Missi, my understanding is that this is why people have kids.

Well, I'd like to be a member of this club but my current dairy free status is keeping me from al my favorite Halloween candy. Not that we bought any, but I've had opportunities I've had to turn down. So I'd LIKE to be eating a milky way.... but am eating a snack size twizzler instead which is not nearly as satisfying.

So, I guess I'll just hang out for the company!

We plan for about 200 trick-or-treaters, generally. This year, we only had 100 or so. There's way too much leftover Halloween candy at home, but what did I do? Bought some really yummy dark chocolate mint "UFOs" at Trader Joes. DH picked the dark chocolate candied ginger pieces.

MUST. CONTROL. HAND. REACHING. TOWARDS. CHOCOLATE.

My son's Halloween candy is sitting well out of his reach (and well within my reach) in the kitchen. I am very good at reinforcing his willpower with this candy because it's nothing either of us really like. It's the leftover stuff people brought in to work that is my Achilles' heel. But how much of a weenie do I feel when I ask him to do something I'm incapable of myself (as in, just eat one piece).

Candace, I hear ya. My failed IVF cycles had me hitting the Twizzlers pretty hard. At one point my FB friends were contemplating an intervention. ((((Candace))))

My son hasn't mentioned his candy since that night.

My problem is that in my neighborhood everyone does full size candy bars - and one person upped the deal by giving out KING size. So there's a major commitment involved in raiding the stash. No more justifying by the "oh but it is just two bites..."

I'm hoping my mom takes it all to work with her so it is out of the house. The one downfall of being a SAHM is no office to dump it on.

We didn't give out candy this year (no one was home) and my kids are too old to trick-or-treat. However, the 20 year old attempted to make chocolate covered potato chips and I think he has discovered a new taste treat

The King sized candy bars will fortify us I feel sure.

We don't live in a "neighborhood" per se and had to take DS to the mall to go trick or treating. There most places gave out one teeny single bite sized candy bar to each child. One. Or worse, a coupon. Or even worse, didn't even participate and had the signs posted that they were (allegedly) out of candy.

A full sized candy bar sounds wonderfully generous to me! And worth the plane ride.

All right, come on over - just bring some extra wine!

We had a few friends over this year but we walked it and were only able to do 2 "blocks." If we get enough of you to come DH can justify his desire to rent a wagon to do it right. Some people do and he has major party-envy.

Our neighborhood really loves Halloween! Halloween and the 4th of July are crazy here.

And all this conversation does is remind me of the many many Snicker's bars calling my name from the kitchen.

Halloween candy, Christmas candy, Valentine candy, Easter candy, candy, candy, candy.... must have candy. Still, my favorites rarely appear in the Halloween fun-pack selection:
Skor bars, Original Butterfinger bars, Haribo licorice wheels, Peanut M&M's, Tootsie rolls, York peppermint patties - I'm sure I'm missing some.

It's amazing how one candy-filled season is followed directly by the next - UNTIL - swimsuit shopping season starts right after the last of the Easter basket goodies are devoured.

sparrowgrass, congratulations on your new grandbaby!

I too would love to join this thread, but I decided a week to ago to go low-carb again. I've been suffering from carb withdrawal all week (it's real -- fatigue, lightheadedness, constipation). It's supposed to go away sometime soon, but not soon enough for me.
Yeah, I love my sweets.
