Would it be weird to add chocolate chips to a cranberry cheesecake?

I could use some advice: I am making a Thanksgiving dessert for those in our family (including myself) who don't like pie. I found a cranberry cheesecake with an oreo crust that sounds good. It uses dried cranberries and orange zest in the filling and a 1/2 cup of fresh cranberries scattered on top. I have never baked with fresh cranberries before and I am concerned they will bake up dark looking rather than the bright red in the magazine picture. So I was going to skip those but add some mini chocolate chips in the filling to pick up on the chocolate flavor in the oreo crust. I am not sure if the cranberries will be weird with the chips. Any thoughts? TIA!

Just realized I posted this on the wrong board. I am moving it over to the food board. Sorry!
