Look for the thrread of 9/26 best vanilla extract I believe the 3rd reply post by Melman has the recipe. Also another reader made one batch using vodka and one batch using rum.

I was just thinking...how do mass manufacturers make vanilla extract? Do they squeeze it out, or what?
