    Can you freeze (fresh) tomatillos?

My girlfriend's garden has gone CRAZEEE and she has a PLETHORA of wonderful tomatillos - more than we can use fresh.

Can tomatillos be frozen? Has anyone successfully done this? And if so, how did you do it? I am thinking (hoping ) just wash, chop and freeze?

    Please advise! Thank you!

I think your quality might suffer a bit, but I don't see why you couldn't try it. I would freeze them individually though on a baking sheet and then toss them all togther in a freezer bag when frozen. Just wash and freeze- even easier than you wanted.

    From GourmetSleuth:

    Freezing:
The easiest method is to remove the papery husks, clean and pop into freezer-weight zip lock bags. When you want to use them remove as many as you like and thaw.

The tomatillos can also be cleaned, sliced and frozen as well but because you are exposing more surface to the air there will be more vitamin loss as well as potential flavor loss.

Wow, you guys are THE BEST! Thank you!
So I have de-papered (?! ) and washed them, and now they are drying. Then they will go into the freezer! So easy. YAY!

    Thank you again!
