    Where to find Crystalized Ginger?

    Hey All!
I've never looked for it, but I know I've never seen it-- where do I buy crystalized ginger and what type of packaging does it come in? I don't really know what it is-- a spice? Actual piece of dried ginger???
    TIA!

The one I have comes in a jar just like the other spices, and in the same location.

I just saw it the other day at the Asian market, so if for any reason your grocery doesn't have it, check that option.

Crystalized ginger isn't the same as candied, right? I just remembered there's a bag of "ginger chunks" from TJ's in the cupboard, and I've bought candied ginger from the bulk bins at Whole Foods.

I buy mine at www.gingerpeople.com. They also have some other great products.

    Penzeys has it too
You can't drink rum on the beach all day if you don't start in the morning.

According to foodsubs.com they are the same. Take it as you will.

The cheapest place to buy it that I've found is King Arthur,
kingarthurflour.com. It's cheaper than Penzeys. You can buy
a 1 pound bag of it (mini diced) for $ 8.95. The same amount
    at Penzeys is $ 14.90.

Amy, A lot of different choices...if you do need it quick it is located in the spices & is called crystalized ginger. If you can take your time in obtaining it I think some of the other options were a little less expensive. I think it is good and sometimes when I am pulling out a spice bottle and see it I have to open and sample it to make sure it is still fresh!

I got mine at Trader Joes -- it's a clear plastic bag with the dried fruits. I still have the brand new package, and can't, for the life of me, remember what recipe I bought it for!

We grew up eating Chrystalized or candied ginger as a special treat!
Used to come in a little box from China.
Now we buy it in TJ's and I keep it in a special gingerjar (from China, of course)and we eat it as a special treat! Is supposed to help digestion when you ate too much food!

I think Williams-Sonoma has the best crystalized ginger. In fact, I've been munching on it all morning. It really is good for settling your stomach and car/air sickness too.

I've found that every grocery store stashes it in a different place. Candied & crystallized are technically the same, but.....sometimes it's more of a "candy" that is sweet kind of like a gum drop, and other times/brands it is more like ginger. Our local Whole Foods recently switched from the more bitter type to the candy type. I was really bummed. It is way yummy to munch on. And, yes, very, very good after a big meal for settling your stomach.

Never tried Williams Sonoma -- will have to check them out!
